During my fifth semester at NAD School of Digital Arts, Animation and Design, we had to create during seven weeks a fake 30 seconds-long advertisement, entirely made in computer generated images.

The tricky part was we could not choose our own themes, but we had to pick them up by chance out of the other themes proposed by our classmates. We picked “Aquarium” and “Insurance Company”. What are we supposed to do with this, you’re asking. Well, we opted for a sequence of short little stories where a fish encounters several life issues, in an analogical context, of course.

I was responsible for the design, modeling and rigging for the two main characters (Morty the Red Fish and Blofeld the Shark) and the fish hook. I also animated the main characters on my own. The rest of the background animation was procedural, produced by my coworker Kevin Blaney.

At the end of the project, we went to Rodeo FX in Montreal to present the final result to a selected jury made of people working in the advertisement department.
